Internship Grant

Washington Government Entities may receive up to $5,000 to cover the cost of a paid accounting or finance internship. 



Purpose: 

Working towards sustainability in the governmental accounting and finance workforce, it is the desire of WFOA to encourage and support Washington government entities to provide employment and educational opportunities such as internships and job shadowing consultations.   


Guidelines: 


WFOA will annually set aside funds for a limited number of applicants to receive reimbursement for hiring and supporting a paid accounting or finance internship of up to $5,000.  To promote college student involvement in government, providing them with work experience

and promoting interest in government.

An applicant must:

  • Complete an Internship Grant application.
  • Provide an outline of the projects/duties the intern will perform and/or experience.  The intern should experience at least the following activities, either through observation, coaching, tasks assignment, or some other meaningful approach:
    • General Cash Receipting
    • Accounts Receivable
    • Accounts Payable
    • Budgeting
    • Financial Reporting
  • Indicate mentoring/supervisory experience of the staff member supervising the intern.

Applications are accepted on a first come first served basis as indicated in the application guidelines.


Deadlines:
