Governmental Accounting Scholarship
College students may receive a $500 scholarship for attending a governmental accounting class.
Purpose:
Careers in government finance can be very diverse, stable, rewarding, can offer a good life/work balance and highly competitive benefits. Additionally, it is critical that government has a talented employee candidate pool to support the needs of its critical operations. It is the desire of WFOA to encourage college students to explore a career in government finance and foster those in government to advance their education by providing scholarships to a select group of students each year.
Guidelines:
WFOA will annually set aside funds for a limited number of applicants to receive a reimbursement scholarship of up to $500 each for students who complete a class in governmental accounting.
An Applicant Must:
- Be attending an accredited community college, 4-year college, or university.
- Be pursuing a major in business, accounting, economics, public administration, or finance.
- Have a GPA of at least 3.0 in the governmental accounting class.
- Be a resident of Washington State.
- Must complete a Governmental Accounting Scholarship Application (below), provide an unofficial transcript showing the GPA in the governmental account class, and a receipt showing the cost of tuition for that class.
The application will be accepted prior to completion of the class; however, all other documentation must be received before the scholarship is awarded at PDSC@wfoa.org.
Applications are accepted on a first come first served basis as indicated in the application guidelines.
Deadlines:
Applications are accpeted throughout the year until the scholarship funds are exhausted.
