Certified Public Finance Officer (CPFO) Scholarship Porgram
WFOA is offering a $1,200 scholarship for the Certified Public Finance Officer (CPFO) program through Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA).
Purpose:
WFOA wants to support the career aspirations of those working in public finance by offering a scholarship to complete the Certified Public Finance Officer (CPFO) program.
Guidelines:
WFOA administers this scholarship on behalf of GFOA. The scholarship covers the first two years of the CPFO program. Only two scholarships will be awarded each year. GFOA’s policy on the CPFO program states that; “the CFPO program is designed to prepare individuals for leadership positions in state and local governments by enhancing fundamental skills and increasing knowledge of best practices and standards in public finance.”
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI): scholarships shall be awarded consistent with GFOA’s DEI initiative.
Scholarship Eligibility:
- Complete an application form
- Letter of support from employer
- Ability to meet time commitment to complete the program
- You must be a current member of both GFOA and WFOA
- Education and/or Work Experience
- Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business OR;
- Equivalent number of years working in public finance.
Examples for qualification; You have an AA degree and 2 years work experience or 4 years of work experience in public finance with no college credit.
For applicants that meet the eligibility criteria, scholarships will be awarded on a first come, first served basis.
Deadlines:
Applications are due April 15.
